GIVE PRAISE FOR NOT UNDERSTANDING
We give you praise for the Scripture we do not understand.
We give you praise for the mystery that is You.
As I follow the Bible in a Year podcasts, I come across a beautiful prayer by Rev Fr Mike Schmitz that reminds me that being able to learn God's Word is in itself such a gift.
Scripture is God revealing Himself to us in love, and the breadth and depth of God's Word is not something we can expect to completely grasp, and so we praise Him -
"Lord, we give you praise for Scripture we don't understand, for Scripture that we might find uninspiring.

"Lord, we give you praise for Scripture we don't understand, for Scripture that we might find uninspiring.
Lord, we give you praise for the mystery that is You, for revealing yourself to us in so many ways, and so often in hazy ways. But you have revealed Your heart to us in Your Son, and in His name, I ask...
Lord, receive our thanks for the ability to continue walking with You, for your faithfulness to us even though we are unfaithful.
We thank you Lord and we praise You."
(Rev Fr Mike Schmitz)
I am reminded to read Scripture with trust - to trust even if I do not fully understand, to trust that there is something for me to learn, and that there is an answer. "Reading Scripture is like drinking from a fountain - taking in whatever we can."
And I am reminded to keep going - to keep moving forward, to not let questions get in the way but let questions be the fuel to propel me forward.
With thanks and with praise....
