THE VICTORY OF GOOD OVER EVIL

Good Friday is the celebration of goodness over evil.
Goodness as seen and expressed by Jesus
It is about the victory and accessibility of good.

It is essential for us to be good because we are created in the image and likeness of God, created to be good.  If we choose not to be good, we are choosing against God.

It is possible for us be good because by the suffering and death of Jesus, He has redeemed us from evil.

And so it boils down to a choice - Do I want to be good?

And if so, how do I be good?

We emulate the way Jesus show goodness.  The way He would respond when He faces difficulties and challenges.  He responds with love. Even though He suffered despite His innocence, He responds with love.

One way we can emulate Jesus is to suffer for others.  To offer up our suffering for others just like Jesus offered His suffering to set us free.

We are not in control of situations or others, but we are in control of our response.  We can convert everything negative - pain, ridicule, suffering - and offer it up for others.  We are capable of loving and forgiving, we can if we want to.

Good Friday is the day of the victory of good over evil.  It is a reminder that we can be good if we allow it.  Jesus knows we are capable to be good, to be loving.  He wants for us to accept the invitation.
