Foundations of Faith 5c - GOD'S REVELATION (PART 3) - STAGES OF GOD'S REVELATION
Notes summarised from
- The Study: "Foundations of Faith : A Journey Through the Catechism of the Catholic Church"
- Notes from "Overview of CatholicTheology", Fr Michael Chan (CTIS Class of 2014)
God reveals Himself in stages
- First the primitive revelation of God made to Adam and Eve.
- Then He revealed himself to the chosen people
- Then the revelation in Jesus Christ
You are my friends if you do what I command you,I no longer call you slaves because a slave does not know what his master is doing.I call you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father”John 15:14-15
“By His revelation, “the invisible God, from the fullness of his love, addresses men as his friends, and moves among them, in order to invite and receive them into his own company.” DV2 (Dei Verbum)
The revelation in Jesus Christ is the final and full revelation of God to men.
With Jesus, God has given the ultimate and full revelation of Himself to man.
After Christ, no further public revelation is to be expected.
