THE ATTRACTIVENESS OF PEACE

I encountered a really beautiful thought today:

What draws people is the
quiet strength and calm joy
of someone who lives in God’s peace.

A peaceful spirit
is the only way to be
a consistent witness of the Gospel.

It was said as part of the Daily Rosary Meditation hosted by Dr Mike Scherschligt, who was introducing St Seraphim of Sarov (1754), whom Dr Mike said, gave a single piece of advice:

Every Christian in the state of grace carries the Trinity within.
Our task is to let others glimpse God through us.

That happens only when our hearts are calm,
trusting in Him, whatever comes.

When we are at peace,
people can see God in us.

Consider the surface of a lake under the sun. If the water is calm, the sun is reflected perfectly. But if the water is agitated, the image disappears.

So it is with our soul.

The more peaceful it is, the more God’s image shines through us and the more His grace acts in us.

If our soul is restless, His light is harder to see, and His grace finds less room to work.

All the good we do is only a reflection of the Essential Good, who is God.

The more our soul is calm because it trusts completely in God, the more God communicates Himself through us.

St. Francis De Sales says if we want peace, do these three things again and again:

1
Do all things out of love for God
and for the good of others.

2
Do the good you can,
and do it at once,
never put it off.

3
Let God do the rest,
abandon to Him
what is beyond your power.

Let us pray:  St. Seraphim and all the saints and angels who are perfectly at peace with You, make us tranquil, calm, undisturbed, so that we can be a bridge for others to come close to you. Amen.
