THINKING ABOUT FREEDOM (PART 3) - ARE WE PHAROAHS TO OURSELVES?

Are we making ourselves so busy
that we do not have time to think about God?
Have we made ourselves slaves to doing?
Have we set up an unmanageable pace for ourselves?

I read Exodus 4-5 today, about God's call to Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery - Rev Fr Michael Schmitz's sermon asked a few pertinent questions..

  • Are we Pharaohs to ourselves, making ourselves so busy that we do not have time to think about God?
  • Have we made ourselves into slaves, thinking I have to do this, I have to do that?
  • Have we set up a pace for ourselves which necessitates us to keep going, that is unmanageable to even take a break?

God’s people are not meant to be slaves, not to pharaoh and not to the pharaohs inside us.

We are meant to live in freedom, not only freedom from but freedom for - we are meant to be free so that we can truly belong to Him, to worship Him.

I had pondered about freedom - re-sharing my notes in 2017:

Thinking about Freedom (Part 1) - Obedience is the beginning of freedom

Thinking about Freedom (Part 2) - Freedom and Truth
