Notes taken from sermon by Rev Fr Charlie Oasan, CICM
Day 4 of Pentecost Novena 2021 (SACCRE)

- FIRE TO TRANSFORM

Rom 12:1-2 I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Gen 1:27 - God created human in his own image and likeness

What the world teaches us about the concept of life and happiness.

Happiness in our world today is defined as

  • A life of pleasure fulfilled
  • A life of glory and popularity
  • A life of power

This is how the world is transforming us, but this is not how God created us.

This pandemic situation is an invitation to us to go back to the most basic and most important things in our life, to reflect and renew our relationship with God and with others.

St Paul tells us "do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Rom 12:2

To be transformed means to go back to our original being, that is human kind created in the image and likeness of God.

We must live the God in us, sharing the nature and life of God which is love, mercy and compassion.  we are called to live a Godly life.

Living a Godly life means

  • A life of compassion.
  • A life lived virtuously, with honesty and integrity
  • A life with the right relationship with others and with God.
