Fr covered a number of chapters today, and gave insights to many verses.
I have encountered John 11:38-40 multiple times, but never did quite recognise the wisdom in those verses which Fr brought to our attention, and which is so worth pondering.
Fr explained about the elements of miracles….
Jesus Raises Lazarus to Life
38 Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”
Fr told us to note that for every miracle, there are three elements:
- A human situation - “a stone was lying against it"
- A divine instruction - “Take away the stone"
- A human response - “There is a stench"
In our daily human situations, do we hear divine instructions and do we respond in the right way?
Each day, God is inviting us to accept miracles.
Do I rebut God’s invitation?
Am I open to allow miracles to take place in my life?
or do I focus on my physical comfort and convenience?
God is giving me the recipe for a joyful and true life.
If I believe, I will see the glory.
What is the “stench” in my life?
What are the things that block me from “moving the stone”?
What excuses do I make?
What would it have been if Martha and friends hadn’t responded to Jesus’ invitation to move the stone?
Am I hearing divine instructions to my daily situations?
Am I responding the right way?
Am I accepting miracles that are awaiting me daily?
