ALLOWING THE LOGOS TO OPERATE IN OUR LIVES
Rev Fr Bobby Emprayil's* video sermon at Pentacost 2020 was shared to me. I listened to it three times.
He very clearly and powerfully reminds us the importance of reading, pronouncing, proclaiming and sharing the Word of God for it to become operative in our lives, making it our Rhema. He quoted numerous Scripture references as part of his reminder and I didnt want to forget these gems.
I transcribed his video message for reference - to reflect, remind and to share.
Below transcript for your reference and sharing with others too, many need to hear this message. (Please note it is not 100% word for word, but his key messages and Scripture references are intact).

God’s words are Spirit and Life
The Logos is the Word of God. Every word of God is full of life. The Holy Spirit is in the Word. John 6:63 “My words are Spirit and Life.”
There are 35,526 verses in the Catholic bible. The verses are there and they will be there. But the Logos will not operate in us nor work for us until we make it our own.
The Logos (the written Word) must become the Rhema (the spoken Word) for the Word of God to work in our lives. When we read a particular word and pronounce it, we make it our own, it becomes Rhema, it becomes active. The anointing starts operating for us. We are claiming the Word of God into our life
It is mandatory that we make the Logos our Rhema. This is only possible by reading or listening to the word of God.
Activating the transformative power of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit had accomplished so much in the lives of the apostles. Their lives were transformed, completely changed. They were filled with hope, strength, clarity and conviction All their fears disappeared.
The Holy Spirit is a Spirit of strength, peace, joy, love and truth. And the Spirit of truth sets us free. This same Holy Spirit that transformed the lives of the apostles acts in our lives too.
Sirach 42:15 says “...by the word of the lord, his works are done."
Jesus says in John 15:7 "If you abide in me and my word abide in you, ask whatever you want and it shall be done for you."
In John 14:23, Jesus said, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, then my father will love him and we will come to him and make our home.”
Jesus also says in John 8:31, “If you continue in my word you are truly my disciple, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”
The Truth will set us free, free from the clutches of evil, addictions, fear, worries, tension and all that are not from God.
The work of the trinitarian God will be manifested in the life of he who keeps the Word of God.
At His Word…
Luke 5:1 tells the story of Peter and his companions working all night but they were unable to catch any fish. They were anxious, tired, angry, negative and uncertain. The Lord intervened.
He entered the boat, sat down and began to teach. He gave the Word of God.
The Gospel went on to tell us that when Jesus finished speaking, he said to Simon, “now, put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon responded, “Master, we tolled all night and caught nothing, But at your word, i will let down the net…” He did and they had a great catch.
The key is this, “At Your Word”.
What they were lacking was the Word of God. By the words of the Lord, His works are done. When we are going through a low in our lives, listen to the Word of God.
The Lord allures us to His Word
Hosea 2:14-15 says "Therefore, I will now allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her. From there I will give her her vineyards, and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.” (Note: Valley of Actor: a place of suffering)
In our wilderness, in our experience of darkness and suffering, the lord invites us to listen to him. He allures us. Through our difficulties the Lord beckons us to hear him. He longs to return to us our vineyards, and to make a door of hope for us. The Holy Spirit acts through the word of God
Joel 2:25 says "I will repay you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the , destroyer, and the cutter my great army, which I sent against you.” The Lord promises that He will restore to us the years which the locusts have eaten. He had allowed the enemy to destroy something in our lives, but when we allow him, when we listen to him through the Word, the Spirit of God will act and all the years that we had lost will be returned to us.
Jesus says in John 16:13-14 says, " 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth... He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”
The Lord wants to give us prosperity, a good future, healing peace, deliverance. He can declare all these by His Word. By the Word of God, He can declare these for us.
A person who does not have the word of God will not see the work of the Holy Spirit no matter how much he prays. Jesus insists that we keep His Word close to our hearts.
The importance of sharing the Word
Acts 10:44 “While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard the word.”
There was a mighty anointing when Peter proclaimed the Word. There is mighty anointing today too when we listen to the Word of God, repeat the Word of God, proclaim it, share it. The Holy Spirit operates.
Act 8:26-40 tells the story of the Eunuch on a chariot on his way back from Jerusalem to Ethiopia. He was reading the prophet Isaiah even though he did not understand what he was reading. At the Word, the Spirit of God was at work. Philip was made to run to the chariot, spoke to the Eunuch about the Scripture, and baptised him.
When a man reads the Word of God, the Spirit works. After baptism, the Eunuch went on to "proclaim the good news to all the towns and spread the word of God in Ethiopia.
We need the Word
We need to read and speak the Word of God for the continuation of the activities of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
This is especially critical when we are in need of His intervention.
We need the power of the Holy Spirit to manage our lives, to let him guide, let him intervene and interfere in every decision. This is only possible when we read the bible on a regular basis. Even though we may not fully understand, just read it, pronounce it, like the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8. The Holy Spirit intervenes and works.
Claiming the Lord’s promises
In the life of Moses, whenever there was difficulties, he would go before the Lord and remind the Lord his oromises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Exodus 32:13 "Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, how you swore to them by your own self, saying to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants like the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’”
Moses reminded the Lord what he promised. Moses was claiming the promises the Lord made, reminding Him… “You said so!” Exodus 32:14 “And the Lord changed his mind about the disaster that he planned to bring on his people."
That is the power of repeating the word of God, claiming the word of God. When we read it, the power inherent in the Word will operate for us.
If we do not read it, all the words of God will be there, and continue to be there, but they will not operate in our lives unless we read it, proclaim it, make it our Rhema.
